Straight down aerial shots can be difficult. You invariably lose any sense of depth in the photo so an interesting subject matter is vital to an eye appealing photograph. One of my favorite ways of making straight down shots interesting is to do a symmetrical split shot. I liked how these docks created a defined center line to the photograph.
